Darnd'st Du 2009

On August 16th, athletes from across the state came to San Marcos to compete and raise awareness and funds for CASA at this year’s annual Darnd’st Duathlon.
The day included a 5K-run, 30K-bike ride, and another 5K-run out and back from Tanger Outlet Center and was the state championship race for the series this year. CASA has been chosen over the years to be the race beneficiary, and this year the proceeds were the highest yet!
The run was organized by RunFAR Racing Services, who donated approximately $4,000 from the event to CASA. CASA thanks all who were involved with race planning: Raul Najera of RunFAR Racing Services, Michelle Carswell of Tanger Outlet Center, and Moe Johnson, race director.
Individuals and community members came out to volunteer on the day of the race and it would not have been a success without them. CASA gives special thanks to everyone who volunteered their time: CASA advocates and board members, HD Supply A Community Team members, Gary Job Corps students, Banana Republic and GAP employees, Retired Teachers of Canyon Lake, students from Texas Hill Country School, Girl Scout Troop 1761, Diane Briones and Maureen Martinez.
CASA also thanks Mochas & Javas for providing coffee for our early morning volunteers.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success and a great event for CASA. We look forward to next year and the “Speak Up For Kids 5K” on March 7th, 2010!
