Become a CASA Volunteer

Take the first step to becoming a CASA advocate:

CASA Day at the Capitol

The 2017 Child Welfare Primer & CASA Day at the Capitol are gearing up to be bigger and better than ever! Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will be visiting their legislative officials to spread the word about CASA and to raise awareness about bills that will help our children. We encourage CASA of Central Texas advocates to be a part of this great event on February 15th and 16th. You may attend either or both days. Registration is required (and more info is available) through the Texas CASA website, accessed HERE.

CASA of Central Texas will provide an optional vanpool for volunteers attending the Day at the Capitol on February 16th. If you would like to vanpool, we will meet at the CASA offices in New Braunfels and San Marcos, with the van leaving promptly at 5:15am and 6:00am, respectively.   For the return trip, we will leave Austin around 4:00pm (specific time TBD).

After you register with Texas CASA, please email Tricia Schneider at tschneider@casacentex.org with the following information:

Your Name:
Your County:
If you plan to vanpool with us, pick up in New Braunfels or San Marcos?
Your Phone:

Lunch is available for a nominal $3 fee when you register online with Texas CASA. Reimbursement is available from CASA of Central Texas (print your receipt for reimbursement).

Led by advocate John Barthel, our local Legislative Advocacy Team (LAT) will schedule appointments for our volunteers to meet with the legislators. Meeting times and locations will be provided to you at Check-in on the 16th.

Again, we hope many of our super advocates from Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties will take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your local lawmakers, as well as hundreds of advocates from across the great state of Texas.
